Improvisations
The collection of live organ improvisations of Moshe Ariel Ganelin
Moshe Ariel Ganelin gained much success and fame as a virtuoso organ improviser. Not separable from his identity as a composer, improvisation constitutes the integral part of Ganelin's creative output. It is iturgical practice. It is a live free improvisation or an improvisation on given themes during his recitals. It is jazz, tango, bossa nova, rock, blues. It is any scale, and genre, from miniatures to huge organ symphonies. And, most notably, it is his accompaniment to silent movies. This latter dimension is of particular interest for Ganelin. He performs live organ improvisation for such movies as "The Phantom of the Opera", "Aelita", "Christmas Eve", "Metropolis" and more at many different concert venues.
